The Jack Man

Jack Man

Jim “The Jack Man” Burrows has been camping at the Daytona International Speedway since 1980. Burrows has set up what he calls, appropriately, “Jack’s Bar.”

Jim offers one free shot per night to female campers who visit his bar, and also offers visitors the chance to sign the bar itself.

Here is a shot of the flags on his observation deck.

Burrows and his friends plan on keeping their spot for many more races to come, as Burrows affirmed by joking, “My tombstone is under that truck, you hear me?”

Couch Man

couchman

Couch Man, AKA Bill, has been in the infield at the Charlotte Motor Speedway since 1978.  He started out with one platform and a couch. He now has 4 to 5 couches at a time, plus end tables, lamps and a pool table.

couchman2

The NASCAR pool table was custom made by Fun City. How they get the table up there is beyond me. Those things are heavy.

I love the second living room in the background. Our hats are off to you Couch Man.

Now that’s a rich stew

dayfans

Fans cool off in the infield before the Coke Zero 400 at the Daytona International Speedway on the Fourth of July 2009. The motor home wasn’t the giveaway that they have money it was the sun shield on the chair behind them, although that could be a wheelchair which would make me a jackass (Photo by Reinhold Matay/Associated Press).

I will never look at a Budweiser the same. Love the skullet.
